I’m happy to be starting this blog at the same time President Obama is in the Middle East where he will give a major address to Muslims. He hopes to repair America’s tainted image in the Muslim world.
A poll conducted shortly before he left shows that Americans also have a tainted image of Muslims. Almost half of those polled have an unfavorable opinion of Muslim countries. While most don’t believe America is at war with the Muslim world, 6 in 10 believe that the Muslim world is at war with America. Bill Schneider sums it up, “The feeling seems to be mutual. We distrust Muslims. They distrust Americans.”
We can’t trust people we don’t know.
