Fast to Understand Muslims: London Mayor
I thought this guy was a Tory…can some Brit explain this to me? (Although I know he has a Muslim great grandparent, right?) No one on the right could say something like this in the U.S. Even on the left, I think only Blackamerican or very leftist politicians who didn’t care at all about right wing backlash could say something like this.
London Mayor Boris Johnson has urged non-Muslims to fast a day during the holy month of Ramadan to help get a better understanding of their Muslim neighbors, the Daily Mail reported Friday, September 4.
“I urge people, particularly during Ramadan, to find out more about Islam,” Johnson said during a visit to East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre.
“Increase your understanding and learning, even fast for a day with your Muslim neighbor and break your fast at the local mosque.”
You know, it might be impossible for an American president to say this, but I still think it’s a good idea. I don’t have that kind of willpower, however. I have a hard enough time fasting to understand my own Lord!
